Noriko practices a traditional Japanese art form called ‘chigiri-e’, in which pictures are created from hand-torn Japanese paper. While her work is influenced by her Japanese heritage, the material used is newspaper, adding a contemporary dimension to the work. Her unique process of paper collage begins with finding different colours and patterns on newspaper. Then she tears and glues the newspaper pieces onto paper. Every single piece on her collage is from newspaper, with no added colours and no use of scissors.
